Founding LEx Partner, Ambassador, and Policy Advisor 

Huyanna Clearwater is an experienced advocate, consultant, and policy advisor from Maine. They served as the founding LEx partner from the earliest days of the Journey to Success campaign, including contributing to the development of the campaign’s policy framework and serving as spokesperson on the need for reform. Driven by life experience in the child welfare system, Clearwater has supported local, state, regional, and national efforts for systems improvement. 

Huyanna serves as a lived experience engagement specialist at the Capacity Building Center for States, which helps public child welfare agencies strengthen processes and practices, Clearwater focuses on improvement strategies, youth engagement, support for national webinars, and program improvement efforts in tribal and child welfare areas. This work includes developing products, facilitating conversations about best practices in serving youth and young adults, and addressing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility issues in system reform efforts.
